About ARS CRS Fe550D TMT
ARS CRS Fe550D is a corrosion-resistant steel (CRS) TMT bar: a Fe550D bar made to rust more slowly than a standard bar. It is the only CRS bar in our range, and ARS is the one brand for which Building Needs is a dealer; the other four brands we supply (Arun Plus, PFI Thirumala, Sangam and Tulsyan) are standard Fe550D bars that we distribute. Today ARS CRS is ₹66.1/kg ex-GST, against Arun Plus ₹59/kg, PFI Thirumala ₹58/kg, Sangam ₹63/kg, Tulsyan ₹63/kg. CRS usually carries a premium over standard Fe550D, and that premium pays off most on coastal, damp and below-ground work.

CRS Bars for Coastal Sites
Salt-laden air near the sea speeds up rusting of reinforcement, both while bars are stored on site and later where concrete cover is thin or cracked. CRS (corrosion-resistant steel) bars are made to rust more slowly than standard bars.
Where to consider CRS: sites within a few kilometres of the coast (ECR, OMR, Ennore, Besant Nagar and similar areas), basements, sumps, overhead and underground water tanks, and other parts of a building that stay damp.
What CRS does not replace: the concrete cover, concrete quality and curing your engineer specifies. Store bars off the ground and covered until use. Follow your structural drawing on grade and bar type.

The standard (book) weights per bar shown above are estimates for quotes, the same weights used in our TMT calculator. Customer billing is based on the supplier's weight. The kg/m column is the IS 1786:2008 nominal unit weight, for reference only; the standard allows a mass tolerance per metre of ±7% for bars up to 10 mm, ±5% for 12–16 mm and ±3% above 16 mm.
Price per kg, per Bar and per Tonne
We price ARS CRS Fe550D per kg, ex-GST: today ₹66.1/kg. ARS CRS is priced size-wise: this is the rate for 12mm to 25mm, and 8mm, 10mm and 32mm carry a small per-kg extra (see the TMT calculator). 18% GST is added on the bill, transport is extra (by delivery location), and the minimum order is 1 ton.
Per tonne = per-kg rate × 1,000 (1 tonne = 1,000 kg), before GST.
